Microlab Support

Microlab Support
  • Supply of ready to use Chemistry
  • Disposal of effluents
  • Rinsing of tanks and containers

Servicing Mini and Microlabs with ready to use chemistry involves emptying, rinsing and filling containers. Rockwell Hitec Microlab chemical support systems are designed to do this in a simple, safe and economical manner.

The equipment can be supplied in several variants depending on the type and number of microlabs to be serviced.

Some microlabs are fitted with removable blocks of replenisher tanks which when empty, are used to collect the overflows. This equipment will simultaneously empty the overflows from several replenisher containers, rinse them with water and refill with fresh solutions. Other versions are available to handle transit containers.

The equipment consists of a frame with a large sink/drip tray on which are mounted the process stations. These have guides which ensure that the bottles or blocks of bottles are correctly located relative to the mechanism.

The caps are unscrewed and the ERF (Empty/Rinse/Fill) heads, which are mounted on a hinged arm , are inserted into the containers.

The cycle begins by draining the bottles with self-priming suction pumps. The pumps shut off automatically as each bottle empties. A spray now rinses the inside of the bottles for a few seconds and the pumps restart to pump out the dirty rinse water. The spray/drain cycle is repeated several times to ensure that the containers are thoroughly rinsed.

When the rinsing and draining cycle is complete the contents of the auto fill reservoirs are discharged into the tanks. The ERF heads are now withdrawn and the tanks are capped so that they can be safely removed. Meanwhile, the reservoirs are refilled with the correct quantity of freshly-mixed chemistry. The quantities are preset by adjusting level-sensing electrodes.

The complete cycle takes from three to seven minutes (depending on the capacity of the bottles), during which time the operator can pack and unpack the containers.

The system incorporates a number of safety checks to monitor for correct operation. These check that each stage is complete within a programmed interval time and if not, sound a warning. Thus completion of a cycle (shown by an LED and an audible signal) indicates that the bottle have been correctly emptied, rinsed and filled.

The equipment requires collection tanks for the used chemistry plus tanks for the fresh solutions. The additional of a Rockwell Hitec Chemical Mixer to fill these tanks provides a simple, safe automatic servicing station for ready to use microlab chemistry.
