In most photo processing labs it is necessary to pump solutions and effluents to and from the processors and the chemical room. In a zero effluent or "dry lab" the pumping of effluents can be a very critical task and it is important that the equipment is reliable and in the event of failure gives immediate warning.
There are 2 types of Rockwell Hitec Transfer Stations:

For most other applications the model T8/12 has a number of advantages. It's small collection tank sits inside an outer safety tank and transfer is by means of a high lift immersion pump. There are 2 models available: T8/12 single and T8/12 twin. Either model fits into the same size outer safety tank. Apart from lower cost the type T8/12 are more compact and easier to install. |
All units are fitted with inlet strainers and solid state switching enhances pump life and hence reliability. The pumps are protected against dry running, however the immersion pumps, unlike magnetic drive pumps, can run dry without damage.
The collection tanks of Rockwell Hitec transfer stations are fitted with an upper and lower conductivity level probe. As soon as the level in the collection tank rises to the upper probe, the pump starts and runs until the level has dropped to the lower probe.
If for any reason the transfer station does not pump away the solution, OA1 overflow alarms, battery backed, can be activated. For this purpose the C60 and E90 transfer stations are fitted with a high level sensor above normal solution levels.
The T8/12 single and twin transfer stations will overflow into the outer safety tank in the base of which is fitted a conductivity level sensor which will activate a type OA1 overflow alarm.
In the unlikely event of a failure the transfer stations can be replaced with a spare unit in less than 5 minutes.
The T8/12 single and twin transfer station has an 8mm outlet pipe and this makes installation using reinforced flexible hose very simple. In most instances a non-return valve is not required. The flexible hose can often be routed through false ceilings and as such is ideal for installation in hospitals and graphic arts installations.
For installations where the transfer stations are not suitable, similar facilities can be provided using TPC1 or TPC2 transfer pump controllers and magnetic drive or diaphragm pumps.
